This year for hunting season we drew on doe tags. We went up to Mackay on Saturday morning and were only out the the truck for about 20 minutes when Todd spotted a deer across the mountain about 250 yards away from us. I didn't even see it till after Todd had shot it and it was rolling down the hill. We didn't see any more deer till later that day but they were to far away. We went home with only one deer.
We went back to Mackay yesterday morning to try our luck again to see if I could get my deer. We parked the tuck and went up a different mountain that Todd knew would have deer on it. After a little bit of a hike we were walking down the other side of the mountain and Todd told me to stop and just wait. After waiting for only about two minutes we saw a herd of about 20 deer running out of the trees on the mountain across from us about 400 yards away. I took a shot and hit it in the butt (not a good place to hit them). Todd was afraid that I had gut shot it which would have ruined all the meat. So after a little hike down the mountain and then back up to the deer we were both very happy to find out it was not a gut shot. Give me a break it was my first time every shooting a deer and it was a long ways away! It was however a lot of fun!
Me with my deer!
