Januray book review

Books I've read in January...

My side of the Story Salem Witch
By: Patericia Hermes

Synopsis
Salem, 1692. Devils and witches are an accepted fact of life and religion. When some girls in the village begin having fits and tremors, their torments are attributed to the action of witches. Elizabeth Putnam and her parents are different from many of the other village folk, and they doubt the superstitions that terrify the town. As Elizabeth struggles to find her way among the alarming events, she also finds herself at odds with George, her best friend and companion since babyhood. Things come to a head when Elizabeth herself is accused of witchcraft, and George must make a difficult choice between what his community believes and what he knows to be true. Readers start the story in Elizabeth's voice and finish the story in George's voice, where they learn how he finds a resolution to his heart wrenching predicament and the conclusion of his own side of the story.

*I liked this book it was a easy read and it was fun to turn the book over and read the other characters side of the story. Well written.

Armed with her trusty diary, some books on Zen Buddhism, and a jar of Deep Wild Violet hair dye, Floey embarks on a mission of self-improvement--with excellent results. People finally start to notice her, especially the boy who really counts. But then disaster strikes. Are people noticing Floey because she's so fabulous--or because her evil cousins have posted her diary on the Internet? And how will Floey ever repair the damage?

*I loved it!! Though it was cute. It reminded me of all the stupid things that we do when we are younger, trying to find ourselves. Good easy read.

Tall, Dark & Dead
By: Tate Hallaway

Well I'm not even going to bother trying to find something to post about this book. It is the first book of 3 and I will not be reading the other 2. I thought that maybe this book would be like Harry Potter meets Twilight but boy was I wrong. I had a really hard time getting past page 11 and then again past page 100 but I managed to read all 295 pages and wondered why I wasted my time. I don't know, if someone likes reading about a witch have sex with vampires (yes more then one) then this is the book for you! Not for me!

Into the Wild Nerd Yonder
By: Julie Halpern

It’s Jessie’s sophomore year of high school. A self-professed “mathelete,” she isn’t sure where she belongs. Her two best friends have transformed themselves into punks and one of them is going after her longtime crush. Her beloved older brother will soon leave for college (and in the meantime has shaved his mohawk and started dating . . . the prom princess!) . . .

Things are changing fast. Jessie needs new friends. And her quest is a hilarious tour through high-school clique-dom, with a surprising stop along the way—the Dungeons and Dragons crowd, who out-nerd everyone. Will hanging out with them make her a nerd, too? And could she really be crushing on a guy with too-short pants and too-white gym shoes?

If you go into the wild nerd yonder, can you ever come back?

*I think out of all the book this one was my favorite out of the bunch. I loved it! I made me laugh and took me back to my high school days and reminded me of how fast people can change. I would highly recommend this to anyone who want a good read.

A Good Woman
By: Danielle Steel

Book cover:
Nineteen-year-old Annabelle Worthington was born into a life of privilege, raised amid the glamour of New York society, with glorious homes on Fifth Avenue and in Newport, Rhode Island. But everything changed on a cold April day in 1912, when the sinking of the Titanic shattered her family and her privileged world forever. Finding strength within her grief, Annabelle pours herself into volunteer work, nursing the poor, igniting a passion for medicine that would shape the course of her life. But for Annabelle, first love, and a seemingly idyllic marriage, will soon bring grief - this time caused by the secrets of the human heart. Betrayed and pursued by a scandal she does not deserve, Annabelle flees New York for war-ravaged France, hoping to lose herself in a life of service. There, in the heart of the First World War, in a groundbreaking field hospital run by women, Annabelle finds her true calling, working as an ambulance medic on the front lines, studying medicine, saving lives. And when the war ends, Annabelle begins a new life in Paris - now a doctor, a mother, her past almost forgotten. . . Until a fateful meeting opens her heart to the world she had left behind. Finding strength in the most unlikely of friendships, pulling together the broken fragments of her life, Annabelle will return to New York one more time - this time as a changed woman, a woman of substance, infused with life's experience, building a future filled with hope . . . out of the rich soil of the past. Filled with breathtaking images and historical detail, Danielle Steel's new novel introduces one of her most unique and fascinating characters: Annabelle Worthington, a remarkable woman, a good woman, a true survivor who triumphs against overwhelming odds. For Annabelle's story is more than compelling fiction, it is a powerful celebration of life, dignity and courage - and a testament to the human will to survive.

* This was my first Danielle Steel book that I have read. I really like it. It made me laugh, it made me cry and cry and cry. But its good! I think I will have to read some more of Danielle Steel books.

On a snowmobile!!

So last year I didn't get to go snowmobiling at all. I think part of the reason was that Todd blew his snowmobile up on his first ride out last year and ended up riding mine the rest the year, hence why I didn't get to go. Well, on Saturday we took some friends of ours, a long with Nick and Levi and went to Island Park. We could not have picked a better day to go! The weather was so nice that I ended up taking my head sock off along with my goggles. Every time we stopped we ended up taking our coats off it was so warm. I was happy that I only got stuck once and that I have a great hubby who will dig me out when I do get stuck! He can fly! He can fly? He can FLY!
Almost to the top. Where I got stuck. Waiting for Todd to come save me!
Looking down the hill after Todd got me out!

Year end, New one begins

Happy 2009 is over and excited to see what 2010 will bring.

Last year my resolution where to read my scriptures every day, exercise everyday and post a new blog every week. Well in review, I failed on reading my scriptures, I didn't exercise every day (but I have lost 30lbs) nor did I post a new blog once a week. So I would say that all in all I have failed for the year 2009.

2010 resolutions

1. Reads my scriptures every day.
2. exercise everyday (I still need to loose 30 more pounds)
3. Try to be a happier person and a better mom.

Birthday week

This last week Kadee and I celebrated our birthdays. The older I the less exciting birthdays are. I just glad to have kids now to make birthday time fun again.

Four years ago on the night of December 7, 2005, I went to the hospital because I didn't feel good and my blood presser was really high. I had been dilated to a three for the last week so was not to excited when the nurse had told me that I was still at a three. The were however concerned about my blood presser and wanted to keep me for the night. Todd, who had finals the next day left me at the hospital and went home to get some sleep. During the night I paged the nurse to help me use the rest room, as I got out of bed I felt a gush all I could do is look at the nurse and say "I swear I did not pee my pants!" In fact my water had broke. The nice nurse informed me that I was not going to be going home in the morning. My water broke a little after 5:00am and I have Kadee at 11:15am. It went really fast, I only pushed for 15 minuets and I didn't even have to be put on the pit! My little girl was a healthy happy 6lb 10oz and 21in long.

We had a family birthday party at Leo's on her birthday where she was spoiled! It was alot fun!

Anyone out there?

So, I am starting to wonder if anyone but a few close friends even read our blog anymore.. I think Todd's family who use to read our blog has fallen off the face of the earth or no longer wants to claim us as family....

Well to update the people who do read our blog.
Todd is still in school and working full time at the hospital. Some how he still manages to pull all A's, and still finds time to go hunting. He is looking forward to the snow and is ready to get out and sled.

Kadee is in ballet. The teachers are always telling me how good of a listener she is and how she is as good if not better of a dancer then the girls that have been doing it a year longer then her. Kadee has also informed me that she wants to start karate. I have doing home school pre-school with Kadee this year and she love to learn and she loves to write and draw. She can already write her numbers 1-20 and we are working on writing the letters. She amazes me with how much she loves to learn and how quick she is. It is our goal to have her reading before kindergarten. She still has one more year home. I just hope she doesn't get to bored once she does go to school.

Rylan is walking really well now. I was starting to wonder if he was ever going to start to walk. He still moves a lot faster crawling but they say that kids who wait longer to walk are smarter :) He is starting to talk also. He says, mom, dad, sis and night. We finally gave him his first hair cut last week and I have to say that home hair cuts are not for me. Or maybe just moving targets.

As for me, I just do about the same thing everyday, cook, clean and watch kids. That's about the typical life of a stay at home mom. I am starting to do crafts a little more even though I'm not very creative.

We are all looking forward to the Holiday season and I can hardly wait for Thanksgiving to spend some time in Utah with my family.

Well friends and family don't be strangers now ya hear. Leave a comment, let us know your out there!

Primary Program

So I forgot to post about the wonderful primary program we had last Sunday. Kadee is a fun little sunbeam and this was her first primary program. She loved the thought of having a part in the primary program and learned her part well. The day of the program when it was the sunbeams turn to say their parts the ran up to the podium before her teacher could get to her. Her teacher also had a part and was suppose to say her part before Kadee could say hers. Well Kadee was so excited to say her part that when she saw her teacher coming she grabbed the microphone and said "I want to do it myself!" It was so funny, the congregation just laughed at my little sunbeam. She said her part all by herself and then let her teacher do her part. It was cute. I'm sure that next year she is going to be the little kid that sings (more like scream) louder then the rest.

Halloween!

I know that it might seem a little morbid but this year for Halloween we dressed Rylan up as Chucky! Yes Chucky, the freaky little killer doll. The funnest thing about it was that people could tell who he was. We went to a trunk r treat and I had a whole group of teenage boys come up to him and say "Oh my gosh its Chucky, they dressed that baby up like Chucky!" Then after ward we went out to dinner and had more people comment on him looking just like Chucky. The reason why we dressed him up like Chucky is because he has quite the scary Chucky smile. The sad part is that when ever we tried to take a picture of him doing the smile he would stop as soon as we took the picture.
This year for Halloween Kadee was a fairy/princess. Some of the time she wanted to be a fairy princess and then she would get sick of her wings and just want to be a princess. We went to two trunk r treats and then went around our neighborhood. I think we got enough candy to last us for the whole next year.
